Over the past few weeks, I saw my husband’s friend health deteriorate. He started to show signs that he was not feeling good; I would try to comfort him since most of the day my husband was at work. His friend would complain of the pain and body headaches to me, but when my husband would arrive he would act life if nothing was wrong. Well, last week his best friend couldn’t hide the pain any longer and my husband for the first time saw his best friend was not feeling well. Ripper was having difficulty to walk and would fall at times. Ripper was not eating well and is pain medication was no longer helping. The past weekend we made difficult decisions, but the best option for him to have no pain. Ripper passed away on April 28 at 5:30 PM, he was almost 13 years old. Before he left he kissed my husband and we said our goodbyes. I never thought that losing our pet would hurt so much. He was not only his friend but was seen as his first son. You see Ripper was not just any dog he was one of kind. I still remember the first day I meet Ripper and believe me I had a misconception about this special breed “Pitbull”. Ripper was a healing dog for my husband, which was named after his platoon in Iraq. Ripper was always a good listener and enjoyed friend gatherings such as Babba, Tequila, Brandy and Patron LOL it sounds like their parents are alcoholics. Ripper enjoyed many trips to the beach and spending time at the Ranch Aka “Daycare” where he would enjoy his daily ice cream. He was always attentive with my kids and never displayed aggressive behaviors towards them. I hope that if you have a pet after reading this you have more appreciation for what they do. Since you always have someone at home 24/7, takes care of your yard and is always there for you not matter how hard or bad your day could be. And if I made you cry well you have feelings too, lol just want you to be aware that even though your best friend is always at home, one day he/she will no longer be there for you.
